Dreams come true for those who dare to Dream. This is Bellamy and Savannah´s Dream
Most of us go about life wishing for so many things we want to have or do, confident we have all the time in the world to make those wishes come true. The truth however is that that´s not necessarily true. As they say: “here today, gone tomorrow”. This amazing story reminds us life is something to be enjoyed and not wished for.
Nineteen year old Bellamy and her sister, seventeen year old Savannah, both have Friedreich’s ataxia, a degenerative neuro-muscular disease. Both girls have failing hearts and are losing their mobility.
When the girls heard about Ricochet, a SURFice Dog®, who surfs with veterans, people with disabilities and children with special needs, they knew they needed to meet her. They wanted the chance to experience the thrill of riding a wave, and Ricochet was the only one who could make that happen.
The girls couldn’t afford the trip to San Diego to surf with the pup. Ricochet and her human water-handler, Dave, started a fundraiser to cover the girls’ travel expenses.

Ricochet is a surf dog, known worldwide for her amazing abilities that have earned her several awards. She has been trained as a service dog (SURFice dog®) in this case, and she’s helped hundreds of people with special disabilities and physical limitations to experience the pleasures of surfing that they would not be able to fulfill on their own.
